KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police have apprehended an 18-year-old suspect believed to be responsible for a road-rage shooting incident in Oak Grove, Missouri.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that they were able to locate Charles J. Smith, who was involved in the altercation. Smith was arrested by MSHP without any issue.

According to MSHP, an argument occurred between two drivers on the eastbound lane of Interstate 70, but it is still unclear what the dispute was about.

During the altercation, one of the drivers, identified as Gary L. Denham, 53, was shot while in his vehicle. Denham drove to a Petro Travel Center to call for help but unfortunately crashed into a parked tractor-trailer. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The other driver ran over a stop stick on the highway, flattening one tire, and eventually drove off the road. The driver then fled the scene after getting out of the vehicle.

The road rage incident resulted in the temporary closure of the eastbound lane of I-70 for approximately one hour.
